The Week Above - November 18th-25th
The Week Above is a weekly astrological "weather report" detailing the major planetary configurations for the week ahead. All times given are in Eastern Time. There will be references to your birth chart and your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs throughout. If you aren't sure of what that means, check out Astrodienst for free online chart drawings, and Cups & Crowns for the basics of how to understand a drawn chart.
If you enjoy my writing and find it valuable, consider supporting me on Patreon. Future posts will feature horoscopes for all twelve signs if certain goals are met. I’m also available for readings.
Mars square Jupiter - November 19th
It’s hard to be joyous when life keeps stepping on your feet.
There’s an inkling to be optimistic with Jupiter in Sagittarius. A budding inclination. Some may say a mighty need.
But it’s been running into setbacks, obstacles, obstructions, contentions.
On November 19th, these contentions culminate, and whatever has been putting a pebble in your shoe when you want a skip in your step gets dealt with, taken care of, forced to come to a head.
Not exactly a fun time, but it’ll make it easier to have a fun time once you’ve gotten it over with.
This transit will affect you most if you have Sagittarius, Pisces, Virgo, or Gemini rising in your natal chart.
The Sun enters Sagittarius - November 22nd
The wheel turns and we get closer to the Solstice, but in the meantime—the weather is changing out there. Well, in most of the world at least.
Sagittarius is a sign of higher-minded pursuits—religion, philosophy, transcendentalism, spirituality, the things that ask the big questions about how and why we’re here.
It is also a free-roaming sign that likes a good time and doesn’t like to be pinned down to any one thing, person, place, or vantage point.
The Sun’s time in Sagittarius brings these themes home for how we shine in the world. What does your lifeforce energy look like when it’s unconstrained? What does the application of your egoic will look like when the deeper questions are asked about how it’s applied?
With Jupiter in Sagittarius as well, the Sun shines ever the brighter through the archer’s horsehair curtain, helping us combine things that may not go together naturally, like horsehair and curtains.
So swing for the rafters, sweet chariot, and pedal to the metal on whatever goals you’re trying to accomplish around education, publishing, religion, or having a good time.
You will feel this influence most strongly if your Sun, Moon, or Rising sign is Leo.
All-Day Void of Course Moon - November 22nd
When the Moon goes void-of-course, things drift weirdly all over the place and getting anything done besides sitting and thinking about the universe is a challenge.
Items bought go unused. Plans made fall through. People met for the first time are never seen again. A strange “what the heck are we even doing” atmosphere pervades the workday as sidetracks get sidetracked and nothing seems to get done.
It’s good for quiet contemplation, mindless busywork and other repetitive tasks, cleaning up, and throwing things out.
The length of the void-of-course Moon varies dramatically. Most of the void Moon periods this week are less than an hour and not worth mentioning. November 22nd, however, has the moon void-of-course from 5am until 11:11pm (EST), so it is basically the entire time most folks will be awake on that day.
Give yourself a break, and if your job requires you to come in, don’t worry too much if the day drifts by a little aimlessly.
Neptune stations Direct - November 24th
This is not helping the void Moon earlier in the week.
Outer planet retrogrades, as I’ve mentioned previous weeks, aren’t that big of a deal. The further out a planet is, the more often it’s retrograde. The outermost planets—Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto—are retrograde almost as often as they’re direct. It’s not a huge difference in what that planet is like.
What matters is when they station.
A planet stationing is it digging a groove into a certain part of the sky. It tends to send out reverberations from that point in the sky, lasting about a week in either direction.
So you’ll feel this Neptune station basically all week.
And what it will feel like—if you’re sensitive to this sort of thing—is disorienting, half-dreaming while awake, weirdly sensitive, an unsettled. At best, you’ll just have really intense dreams and wonder why your dreams were so intense and how you managed to sleep for that long. If you haven’t been taking amazing care of your body and haven’t been practicing good boundaries, you might find yourself practically dizzy most of the week.
If this is the sort of thing that happens to you sometimes, it’s likely to happen this week. If this sort of thing never happens to you, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Some folks are going to feel it more than others.
The folks who will feel it the most are those with the Sun, Moon, or Ascendant in Pisces or in close aspect with Neptune in their natal chart, and those who pick up on other people’s energies all the time and feel like they can’t control it You can control it by the way—I recommend The Witch’s Shield by Christopher Penczak for basic psychic boundary techniques.
Good luck out there,
Arthur
