This week is less packed with transits that last week, but we do have some notable sign changes. Because Mercury and Venus are at late degrees until they enter new signs, this week doesn’t have any of the all-day void-of-course moons we've been dealing with so much this year. So that’s good news!
June 2nd - Venus trine Pluto
When Venus aspects Pluto by transit, it’s notable for introducing triangles into relationship dynamics. Not necessarily in the sense of cheating, though you find that sometimes with hard aspects like Venus square Pluto, Venus opposite Pluto, or Venus conjunct Pluto. Even with those, most of the triangles you run into are some external object of focus that isn’t romantic or sexual — Me, you, and my model train hobby. Me, you, and your mother who lives with us because her health is failing. Me, you, and the debt. Et cetera. With the Venus trine Pluto transit, you have the potential for both sides of a relationship dynamic to share their focus on a third thing—Me, you, and the our mutual love of snorkeling. Me, you, and our desire to remodel the house. This doesn’t just apply to romantic and sexual dynamics, but those are the most strongly indicated. And yes, if you’re non-monogamous, it’s a good aspect to respectfully bring a third into the relationship on. (Just please don’t be one of those unicorn hunting couples on dating sites not designed for that - bi women are not your fetish toy.) The Venus trine Pluto transit can also indicate an intensification of passions, both romantic and artistic, and if you’re a creative type of any kind, get to work creating this weekend if you’d like to feel like there’s something important to get across in your creation.
June 4th - Mercury in Cancer
Alas, Mercury could not be in Gemini forever, and on June 4th the non-binary trickster planet passes into the guarded waters of Cancer.
Cancer is a Water sign, and in traditional astrology the Water signs are considered “mute.” This is because their animals—the crab, the scorpion, and the fish—lack voices in the traditional sense. Mercury in a Water sign therefore tends to struggle somewhat to communicate, because their ideas and thoughts which wish to fly through the air have to instead traverse a much heavier substance on the way from Point A to Point B. The Mercury in Cancer transit finds us having to feel our ways through communication, intuit our ways through analysis (instead of using logic), and go with the flow where we would rather plan ahead. Cancer, being a crab, moves sideways—so a direct approach in communication and a direct route in travel are likely to be more challenging at this time. On the other hand, feelings are going to come out one way or another, as these Watery skies bring our emotions to the surface to be dealt with.
Not to mention that Mercury is quite the changeable one on their own, and in Moon-ruled Cancer they’ll be shifting their mood as often as the Moon changes signs or makes aspects, which is often.
Mercury’s path through Cancer is not easy this year either. This Mercury in Cancer transit has Mercury contending with both Mars and Saturn in difficult aspects, not to mention Pluto. The thoughts are on the feelings and the feelings aren’t easy to deal with. Mercury opposes Saturn on June 16th, conjoins Mars on June 18th, and opposes Pluto on June 19th. Mercury will be feeling their weight more or less the whole time they’re in Cancer this month, but those days will be the most intense. Make plans with your support network now, so you’re in communication with them ahead of time and have your people by your side when the emotional turmoil gets riled up later this month. Have a plan for what to do if you have a history of depression and anxiety for when the feels get overwhelming, and figure that stuff out sooner rather than later. You don’t have to go through things alone, and you most likely have more people on your side than you may realize.
Mutual support networks are more necessary than even in this Saturn-Pluto age, and you’ll need yours this Summer. Just remember that life won’t always be as hard as it is right now.
Mercury leaves Cancer for Leo on June 26th, but they’ll be back in July during their next retrograde.
June 8th - Venus in Gemini
Venus is the other planet leaving her sign of dignity this week. She enters the territory of the twins on June 8th, where she is sociable, flighty, and a bit pixie-ish in her demeanor. Venus in Gemini likes to party, flirt, bounce around, and do things with her hands, whether sexually, artistically, or aesthetically. She needs her mind stimulated to stay interested, and changes her mind about her desires and aesthetics regularly. She has lots of questions and isn’t always interested in the answers, as she knows that the answers may change.
The Venus in Gemini transit this year is mercifully out of sight of Mars and Saturn, but she’s ruled by Mercury while she’s in Gemini, and Mercury, as we just spoke about, is a bit of a soggy noodle while in Cancer this year. Mercury leaves Cancer for Leo while Venus is still in Gemini, but they’re moving rather slowly at that point, and not in amazing condition as a result. Therefore Venus, looking to Mercury for instruction on how to be in Gemini, gets some rather depressed answers back. She’s not her usual chipper self in Gemini this year, at all. She’s trying, though, and the Venus in Gemini transit will bring some measure of lightness into the mix.
While in Gemini, Venus’s main aspects are an opposition to Jupiter on June 23rd and a square to Neptune 17 hours later on June 24th. Expect some measure of overdoing and slight delusion around love and other Venusian matters at that time, but don’t worry about it too much. Jupiter’s in charge of both himself and Neptune right now, and most of what he’s up to involves doing quite a bit of good.
Venus leaves Gemini for Cancer on July 3rd, and we’ll talk about that transit then.
That’s all for this week! If you found this valuable and would like to learn more about your chart, you can book a reading here.
